Animal Shelter Update

NEWSCHANNEL 5 reported on thousands of animals being euthanized

EDINBURG - The Upper Valley Humane Society was flooded with calls from people wanting to adopt pets.

This follows a NEWSCHANNEL 5 investigation about thousands of animals being euthanized every year.

We're told today was one of the shelter's busiest days in years. One family says they watched the NEWSCHANNEL 5 investigation and saw their missing dog in the segment.

Others just wanted to help out by adopting.

"We saw your report last night. And I recently lost my dog, so I thought I would come adopt here and help out," says A. J. Rodriguez.

The Humane Society has been receiving so many calls that they haven't been able to answer them all. They're asking that people be patient.

People interested in adopting can call the shelter during business hours at 686-1141.
