Teens Family Speaks
Girl remembered fondly
BROWNSVILLE - The family of a teenager found stabbed inside her home speaks only to NEWSCHANNEL 5. Brenda Lee Nunez was stabbed to death in her own home; today, her family wants others to remember her as a good person.
Police were back at the scene Sunday combing through the home looking for evidence. Nearby, her family gathered trying to figure out how this could have happened to one of their own. The 17-year-old's sister says she remembers a young, beautiful girl, who was full of life and always happy. "She just always made me smile. She was always smiling. I have more than 100 pictures of her on my laptop and she was always smiling," says Lorena Nunez, the teen's sister. Alejandro Fernandez, a lifelong friend, says he remembers a nice girl. He tells us he'll miss her voice and miss talking to her.
Brenda was an honor student and would have graduated a junior from Pace High School. She had plans of going to college. Tonight, however, her family is making plans for her funeral.
A teenage boy was taken in for questioning in connection with the stabbing death. But at this time, police are not saying anything else.
