Teen Stabbed to Death

Girl found by family member

BROWNSVILLE - Seventeen-year-old Brenda Lee Nunez was found dead at her Brownsville home at the 300 block of Gilson Street by a family member early this morning.

Police tell us her mother was working late last night, and the teen had just returned from a church retreat. She was reportedly home alone when the stabbing occurred.

Authorities say the homicide doesn't appear to be a random act and believe the teen may have known the person who killed her.

A 16-year-old boy, who police think may have more information about the girl's death, is being questioned.

Police are still working to gather more details and continue questioning neighbors.

Nunez was a student at Pace High School. But officials stress they don't think this is in anyway related to the recent incidents at the school.
