Toddler's Death Under Investigation

Autopsy ordered

LA JOYA - The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department is investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old.

Sheriff Lupe Trevino says the case is most likely a homicide or manslaughter. He tells it's also possibly a case of child endangerment.

We learned the child was staying at a home on the 800 block of Rancho Escondido Street in La Joya. He was later taken to the hospital with a skull fracture.

Investigators say an autopsy is being done to find the exact cause of death.
