Mission Soldier Killed.flv
Specialist turned 24 last week
MISSION - A soldier from Mission died in Iraq over the weekend.
Army officials informed Jose "Joe" Rubio's wife this morning around 8 a.m.
She was told he died in Baghdad, after a roadside bomb blew up near their vehicle.
Reports say Rubio's infantry was patrolling the Green Zone. That area's considered the safe zone that houses the U.S. embassy and Iraqi government headquarters.
Rubio was a 4th Class Specialist soldier in the Army. He joined two years ago, after receiving a computer degree at a local college.
He and his wife Jennifer had been together for eight years and were high school sweethearts.
Rubio's family last saw him in January, when he was home on leave. He had just turned 24 last week.
