Win by Just One Point

HIDALGO - The Brian Walsh era as coach of the Vipers will apparently feature a run and gun style. There was lots of offense and not much defense as the Vipers cracked the franchise record for points scored in a single game. Desmon Farmer also set an individual scoring mark for the team. And at that, the Vipers won by just one point, 138-137 over Albuquerque. Farmer scored 48 points in a game that went down to the final horn. With the win the locals improve to 18-and-29. They host Albuquerque again on Saturday. In Houston, Texas advanced to Sunday's regional final in the NCAA basketball tournament with an 82-62 victory over Stanford. And the Spurs made it six straight wins with a 99-84 decision over Minnesota. Manu Ginobili scored 26 points as the Spurs won for the 50th time this season and moved back into a tie for first place in the western conference standings with New Orleans. San Antonio plays host to Houston Sunday at noon here on NEWSCHANNEL 5.
