Texas Supreme Court suspended Bazan's license
EDINBURG - Hidalgo County commissioners decided to stop paychecks for an embattled constable.
The district attorney recently asked the commissioners to stop Walo Bazan's pay, after the Texas Supreme Court ruled to suspend his license. The commissioners agreed.
The county auditor is now trying to determine whether Bazan should pay back what he's received so far. That amount totals more than $100,000.
Meanwhile, the Precinct 5 constable is appealing the theft conviction, which resulted in his suspended license. He's waiting for a decision from an appellate court.
