Classes expected to resume as normal on Tuesday

DONNA - A water main break in Donna forced several schools to shut down.

Students from Salazar Elementary and Veterans Middle School were sent home.

Roberto F. Loredo, the school district's interim superintendent, says the water main break was due to construction and nothing related to the school district.

"We tried to assist and tried to correct the problem within an hour or so. They tell us it's going to take longer, so we feel it was the right decision to send our students home," he explains.

Children who weren't picked up from school or don't have anyone at home to stay with were sent to the Sauceda Fine Arts Auditorium on Wood Avenue.

If you have any questions, you can call the Donna ISD at 464-1645.
