Spokesperson says dozens of customers aren't paying
BROWNSVILLE - The Red River trash pickup company says they'll be cracking down on delinquent accounts in Cameron County.
Customers who miss a payment will have their trash cans taken away.
Carol Urich called NEWSCHANNEL 5 after trash started piling up on her driveway. We went looking for answers. We learned the trash company closed its Los Fresnos office. A worker directed us to an office on FM 2480.
We spoke to company representative David Cooper. He checked into Urich's account. He tells us the company hasn't received payment for service for six months.
Urich tell us she did pay. "I think they just picked them up, got messed up in the accounting department... we've got all the receipts," she says.
But the trash company says it doesn't have record of payments ever made.
The company spokesperson says dozens of customers haven't paid up and that's why truck drivers will be out in full force picking up trash cans.
Cooper says people with delinquent accounts can expect their garbage containers to be taken away.
If you're in this situation, you have three steps to have your garbage container returned. You'll need to pay a $25 re-delivery fee, pay your account balance, and pay three months in advance.
