Couple's land reportedly needed for border wall
LOS EBANOS - A migrant family who poured their saving into land in Los Ebanos is now fighting the federal government to keep it.
The government wants the Muniz family's property to use for the border wall. The family sued the government. Now the case is headed to the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
The Muniz family has owned the small property for 30 years. Baldomero Muniz says he enjoys the freedom of walking outside, opening his gate, and stepping up to the edge of the Rio Grande.
The family tells us the federal government is violating their rights.
Baldomero Muniz and his wife Hilaria say they lack a good education but they're determined to fight for their land and their children's rights.
Their court hearing is set for the second week of July.
