Several complaints reported

EDINBURG - The Hidalgo Bar Association is investigating a company offering legal documents. Texas Rural Legal Aid tells us they've received several complaints about "Documents and More."

Delbert Seiger says he paid the company over $300 for divorce papers. He tells us he was satisfied with the company, until he got to the courtroom.

Seiger says he's not sure how to present what he has to the judge, and he learned he doesn't have the necessary paperwork.

District Judge Bobby Flores says this is happening more and more.

Seiger says he heard about the company in the newspaper.

Pablo Almaguer is the head of Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. He says they've been asking questions about "Documents and More" for years. He says the company's also known as "We the People."

"Our issue is that they provide legal advice, and sometimes, it's not the proper legal advice. And they pay a legitimate amount of money for that service. The low around $500 and the high is over $1,000," he says.

"The danger about this company is there is a need for those folks who don't have money to have other alternatives"

Almaguer says, "This company might be preying on the low-income clientele."

NEWSCHANNEL 5 went by "Documents and More," which is located off 10th Street in McAllen.

We were told no one was available to talk to us. There was still no comment when we called the business this afternoon.

Almaguer suggests anyone needing help representing themselves call the local legal aid organization at 393-6200 or visiting www.texaslawhelp.org.
