One cleared of any suspicion
EDINBURG - State troopers questioned two Edinburg school bus drivers on suspicion of drug trafficking.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 confirmed one of the two bus drivers has been cleared of any suspicion. The other remains a person of interest.
The two were suspected of possessing and trafficking drugs last weekend. DPS troopers pulled the two over and reportedly discovered over 150 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
Neither bus driver was on duty at the time.
DPS and the school district are conducting their own investigations. We learned both bus drivers are still suspended without pay.
The district says they want to wrap up their investigation before a decision is made whether the drivers will be fired.
School district administrators say neither driver was ever arrested. We're told they were simply held for questioning when troopers made the discovery.
