Other charged dropped as part of plea deal
EDINBURG - Burglary charges were dropped against an Edinburg man, in exchange for him pleading guilty to intoxicated manslaughter.
Mark Anthony Villarreal made the deal with the District Attorney's Office. He'll get a 12-year prison sentence for his plea.
Police say Villarreal broke in to an Edinburg apartment and stole a purse and backpack. Officers say the suspect was drunk at the time. When he sped off in his car, he hit Ernesto Puente, who was riding his bicycle.
A witness to the accident followed Villarreal and called police.
