AEP crews dealing with muddy roads, thick trees

EDINBURG - Utility crews are still working around the clock to repair downed power lines. Most of the 10,000 people left without electricity this morning have it back up. But there are still about 1,400 in the dark.

Crews are busy changing transformers, wires, and telephone poles. An AEP spokesperson says the repair work hasn't been easy.

We're told crews are having a difficult time driving their trucks in some areas with muddy roads. Thick trees are another obstacle crews have to work through.

"The thing that is very important paramount in our business is that they work safely," says AEP spokesperson Lauro Solis. "We don't get in a hurry because we don't want to get anybody hurt. It may take a littler longer, so we ask the customer to be patient with us."

Solis tells us the objective is to get everybody's power back on tonight.
