Salinas say county would request reimbursement

EDINBURG - Valley families are trying to recover after last night's severe weather. Hidalgo County Judge J.D. Salinas says they might not be able to wait for state and federal disaster funds.

A total of 20 homes were destroyed by severe weather. Thirty people are now in a shelter and 13 were taken to local hospitals. Those people have since been released.

Salinas says the county may have to take matters into its own hands for the time being. He tells us the county may have to appropriate the money itself to help their residents now and ask for reimbursement later.
