Deputies Assigned to Patrol Storm Damaged Areas

Families fear looters

ALTON - Severe weather in the Upper Valley has left homes severely damaged. Las Canas Colonia was one of the areas hit the hardest. Fifteen homes were destroyed.

The Sheriff's Department has set up command posts and will be patrolling the area overnight to make sure the victims of the weather do not fall victims to thieves as well.

Families, like the Lugo family, had their home destroyed. The Lugos tell us seeing the deputies there makes them feel like the little they have left will be protected.
