Mercedes Murder Suspect At Large

Man accused of stabbing 22-year-old to death

PROGRESO - Mercedes police have confirmed a murder suspect is now in custody.

The police chief tells us Silverio Guadalupe Gamez turned himself in to authorities at the Progreso international bridge. Gamez is accused of stabbing a 22-year-old man late Wednesday night on the 900 block of South Indiana.

Mercedes police are now making arrangements to have Gamez transferred to their custody.
