Mission Soldier Killed

Army specialist's vehicle hit with grenade

MISSION - The City of Mission is honoring the latest Valley soldier killed in Iraq.

The city requested businesses fly their flags at half-staff to honor 21-year-old Army Specialist Alex Gonzalez.

His family learned yesterday he was killed in Iraq. He died when a rocket-propelled grenade hit his vehicle.

Gonzalez is the second soldier from Mission killed this year in Iraq.

There's no word yet when his body will be brought back. NEWSCHANNEL 5 learned the city is working with America's Last Patrol to organize a flag-raising ceremony in Gonzalez's honor.
