HIDALGO - Authorities are searching the river, after a young child goes missing.

Few details are being released at this time. But NEWSHANNEL 5 learned a young boy and his brother were trying to swim into the U.S.

Border Patrol agents spotted them. They managed to pick up the boy's brother. But the boy kept trying to swim across the river and disappeared in the water.

Border Patrol and local police officers are searching for the boy at this time.
