Espericueta, Ancer Among Leaders

AUSTIN - Valley athletes have a busy sports weekend ahead. Already underway in Austin is the first day of the state 5A golf tournament. Edinburg North's Felicia Espericueta shot 77. That's good for a three way tie for third place, three shots off the lead. The Sharyland girls had a rough opening day at 360, 8th in the 8 team field. Ana Choi was best at 86. And on the boys' side Abraham Ancer notched a 74. That's in a group of 7 players, tied for 11th, four shots from the top. Also tonight, the first in a best of three in regional softball. La Joya is at Edinburg North. The Coyotes baseball team is home tonight for the first game in an area baseball series with PSJA. Rio Hondo faces 3A area action out of the Valley. All of the rest of the baseball and softball plays this weekend.
