Lawsuit Update
Losing candidates claim some voters were ineligible
PROGRESO - A judge will now decide if the election results for the Progreso ISD school board will be thrown out or not.
Eleazar Perez Jr., Ramon Bellmares, and Ruben Varela Jr. all lost during the May elections. Immediately after losing, they filed a law suit claiming voter fraud had been committed. The three claim some voters did not live within the district, making them ineligible to vote. They also alleged some voters voted without valid registration cards.
That decision will be handed down by June 27.
