Landowner calls bids, lawsuits scare tactics

BROWNSVILLE - The federal government is asking for bids from contractors to build the border fence in Cameron County. Five pre-approved contractors have gotten a bid request for seven miles of fencing. The plans include a fence south of La Feria, leading up the Rio Grande Valley Wildlife Refuge. It also includes fencing on the property of Eloisa Tamez. She's a landowner who filed a lawsuit against the government because of the fence. Tamez says the government is rushing to finish more than 600 miles of fencing by the end of the year. She tells us bids and the government's lawsuits against landowners are all scare tactics.
