Family reportedly requesting restraining order

LOS FRESNOS - A Cameron County justice of peace is looking for a lawyer after three more families threaten a lawsuit against him.

A Los Fresnos family first filed a suit against Gustavo Garza. They say he gave them the option of paying their daughter's $500 truancy fine or paddling her in court.

The family and their attorney say they want to stop corporal punishment in Garza's courtroom.

A lawyer handling the case says a hearing is set for Wednesday. They'll be asking for a restraining order against the judge.
