Hidalgo County Sets Up Emergency Command Center


Officials urge residents to be prepared

EDINBURG--- Emergency management coordinators and Hidalgo County officials have set up an emergency command center in Edinburg.

Officials are following Tropical Storm Dolly's path and encourage citizens to do the same.

Hidalgo County Judge JD Salinas tells NEWSCHANNEL 5 now is the time to get prepared. He encourages residents to gather all the necessary supplies they may need to last them a few days.

Salinas also stressed the importance of using 211, and added residents should call 211 instead of 911 as their information center.
