Judge sides with family in civil suit

PHARR - A Hidalgo County judge has awarded $550,000 to the family of a 14-year-old boy who was sexually abused by a former music minister.

The family says Trinity Worship Center in Pharr failed to do an adequate background check on Robert Franklin. They say because of that, their 14-year-old son was sexually abused.

Robert Franklin is still in jail, after violating probation. He only served six months after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

No word if the church will appeal the ruling.
