Towing Company Problems
Towing company accused of illegally impounding a trailer
PHARR - At the Stripes store near the Pharr International Bridge, tractor-trailers are always welcome, but that wasn't the case for one trailer.
Nina Garcia says one of her truckers had parked his trailer there, and it was towed over night.
The towing company charged Garcia $945.00 for the tow, plus daily storage fees.
But there are several "No Towing" signs posted on the store's parking. And the store manager tells NEWSCHANNEL 5 they hadn't called the towing company.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 has learned unless someone calls a towing company, the company could be charged with theft for taking the vehicle off the property.
We went to American National Towing in Hidalgo to find out what happened.
The owner was out of town during our visit, but he did agree to release the trailer for $195.00.
He also says he'll speak to our cameras to clear up the whole mess, when he gets back in town on Thursday. We'll keep you posted.
