No word yet on first day of class in Port Isabel

SAN BENITO - Classes in San Benito will start as scheduled on August 25. That's according to school district officials.

Hurricane Dolly damaged several campuses. But we're told the damage was minimal. Some campuses had water damage, and others had broken windows.

Crews are making repairs, which are expected to be done by the first day of school.

Meanwhile, the district in Port Isabel may delay the start of their school year. They're waiting on word from the state, which will decide if any missed days will have to be made up.

Crews at the district are cleaning up damage caused by Hurricane Dolly. They're working to dry classrooms and disinfect or replace damaged equipment at four campuses.

The superintendent tells us they're assessing the damage, but they don't know yet when the first day of school will be.
