Transition to digital television set for 2009

WESLACO - Beginning in February 2009, anyone owning an analog TV and using an antenna to watch television won't be able to receive a TV signal.

At that time, all signals transmitted by TV stations, like NEWSCHANNEL 5, will be digital and your analog set will need a digital tuner.

Viewers with an analog TV set can buy a converter box in order to be able to see the stations. The U.S. government is making available two $40 vouchers for each household that can go towards the purchase of a converter box.

To apply online go to www.dtv2009.gov or call the coupon program hotline at 1-888-388-2009.

Current cable and satellite subscribers will not be affected by the digital TV change.
