EDINBURG -- Police were trying to find out what kind of motive Amit Livingston may have had for killing his girlfriend.

Livingston, 37, was arrested this week after turning himself into Corpus Christi police. He was charged with the murder of Hermila Hernandez, whose body was found in a sand dune on South Padre Island earlier this month.

Police were questioning Livingston Wednesday as they continued their investigation.

Meanwhile, Hernandez' family members said they were happy to hear about an arrest made in the murder.

Hernandez' aunt told NEWSCHANNEL 5 the family didn't know anything about Livingston; they just want justice.

"If he is guilty, he has to pay," Graciela Olmeda said. "They need to make him pay for what he did. My family had no idea about this man. We never expected this."

Other family members have not spoken publicly about Hermila's death, saying they are still too upset.
