Will Ripley co-anchors NEWSCHANNEL 5 This Morning and reports for the afternoon and evening newscasts. He joined NEWSCHANNEL 5 in May 2004.
Will’s NEWSCHANNEL 5 reports have earned him two Regional Edward R. Murrow awards. He also won four first place awards and three second place awards from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters. During his time as co-anchor, NEWSCHANNEL 5 This Morning won a Lone Star EMMY award for best morning newscast and was nominated in the category twice.
Before moving to the Rio Grande Valley, Will was a weekend news anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was also a reporter for NBC affiliate KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
Will got hooked on broadcast news while still in high school. He was an intern and student news reporter for Fox affiliate WTIC-TV in Hartford, Connecticut. He also did freelance on-camera work for The Weather Channel and served as News Director of his high school television station MHS-TV.
In college, Will also got a taste of print journalism. He was a reporter and photographer for The Columbia Missourian and VOX Magazine in Columbia, Missouri.
Will is proud to call himself a Mizzou Tiger. He has a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. He graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester, Connecticut.
