Progreso - Is it really needed? That's what some in Progreso wonder about a $7 million bond election on the ballot.
Dr. Fernando Castillo, the Progreso superintendent, wants to expand the district's popular Early College Program. Dr. Castillo says, "It's not just about building buildings, but improving academic achievement."
Progreso sophomore Eddie Trevino says, "The Early College here is really just amazing. The teachers are already really great.
The school district wants to build a new Science and Technology Center for middle and high school students. Dr. Castillo says, "Our science and technology building will emphasize renewable energy such as solar panels technology and wind turbines technology."
The district hasn't decided exactly where to build the science and technology center, but they're looking at a spot near the high school.
