SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - Red tide is still present in the gulf. That’s according to Texas Parks and Wildlife officials who conducted a second aerial view of the coast.
Red tide is a toxic algae bloom, which kills ocean life and caused irritation similar to seasonal allergies for people.
Officials went up in a plane this morning. We're told the red tide is evident from ten miles south of Port Mansfield all the way down to South Padre Island.
Dead fish continue to wash ashore but not everywhere.
We learned fishermen in the Laguna Madre are catching unaffected fish in that area.
