PROGRESO - Cows and goats; they're the unwelcome neighbors in a Progreso neighborhood. While the animals feel right at home, people who live around them are not so comfortable.

The people on Baker Street say they want the animals gone. San Juanita Reyna says the smell is bad when it rains or when the wind changes.

Santos Reyes says the animals keep him locked up inside. Neighbors say they've complained to the city, but so far, nothing has been done.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS found the owner of the animal. Jesus Hernandez, 77, says he's lived here all his life and his son-in-law says the animals are staying put. They say the animals have nowhere else to go; that this is there home. They say the ranch was there long before anyone else moved into the area.

Others feel that the area has now become a city and that the area needs to look like a city.

City officials were not available tonight to sort things out. CHANNEL 5 NEWS will be checking in with them to see if the animals can stay on East Baker Road.
