November 3rd Volleyball Round-Up

WESLACO - The opening round of the girls' volleyball playoffs concludes on Tuesday.  Here's a round-up of scores from across the Valley.  We begin with the Class 5A bi-district games.  McAllen facing Eagle Pass in Laredo tonight.  The Lady Bulldogs pull it off in three straight sets.  They'll face Harlingen South Saturday at 2 pm at Harlingen South.  Rio Grande City was in Corpus Christi to face San Antonio Southwest.  It didn't go well.  Southwest wins in three consecutive sets.  Also in 5A, Los Fresnos on the road at Edinburg North.  The Falcons get the road win in four sets, 3-1.  And in Class 4A bi-district, Mercedes facing Calallen at Calallen.  The Lady Tigers lose in three straight sets.  Veterans Memorial needed all five sets to advance past Laredo Nixon.  No score available on the Edcouch-Elsa versus Alice contest.  In 3A, Hidalgo's girls were blanked by Ingleside.  And in 2A, Santa Rosa taking on George West.  The Warriors fall in three straight sets.  Not everyone can move on.  A good run for all of these high school teams to get to the bi-district playoffs.
