LA FERIA - The La Feria businesswoman known as the Park Girl wants to pay back her old customers.
Prosecutors said six people bought mobile homes from the Park Girl sales lot. The customers never got their homes. In 2011, Jo Leigh Ares was arrested and the lot was shut down.
Now, five days before Ares' trial on felony theft charges, her attorney, Stan Hulse, gave a Cameron County judge a check for more than $100,000.

BROWNSVILLE - The new Cameron County district attorney said he wants Jo Leigh Ares to serve time. The businesswoman known as the Park Girl faces more than a dozen theft and deceptive trade practice charges.

A judge had issued a warrant for Jo Leigh Ares last week after she failed to appear in court. When she showed up the next day, the judge dismissed the warrant.

BROWNSVILLE - Customers of La Feria's Park Girl hope to settle out of court and get some of their money back.
Some customers already have settled out of court, but not with Jo Leigh Ares.
Many of the customers claiming theft and fraud said they don't know where to find help.

BROWNSVILLE - Some finance companies have made out-of-court settlements with nearly two dozen Park Girl RV customers.
More than 70 people are suing Jo Leigh Ares, the La Feria businesswoman known as the Park Girl. She's accused of selling faulty mobile homes and homes without clean titles.
The recent settlements are between some customers and finance companies, which fixed mobile homes or paid the back taxes on homes sold by Ares. It's a small part of a big legal mess.

BROWNSVILLE - A La Feria businesswoman facing nearly a dozen and a half criminal charges was in court today. Jo Leigh Ares' lawyer says in spite of the criminal charges, it's a civil matter and she wants it resolved.

A filing for a new business in Idaho is signed at the bottom by a Jo Leigh Ares, who's known in the Rio Grande Valley as the Park Girl. This paperwork does not list a birth date, so we are unable to confirm if this is the same Ares accused of fraud in Texas.

The state is giving money to Park Girl customers.
More than 140 people filed complaints with the Texas Department of Manufactured Housing. They claim Jo Leigh Ares took their money and either didn't give them the mobile home they paid for or gave them a bad title.
The state's Manufactured Homeowners' Recovery Trust Fund paid out just more than $27,000 to victims so far.
Ares faces four counts of felony theft. She was arrested in December.

CAMERON COUNTY - A Cameron County judge is extending a restraining order against La Feria's Park Girl.
The judge decided Jo Leigh Ares and any company who financed her mobile homes still cannot collect payments on those homes. The judge wants the mounting legal troubles against the Park Girl to be resolved first. Customers will make their payments to the court until that happens.

CAMERON COUNTY - A Cameron County judge says he doesn't know why the Park Girl got her bond reduced.
Judge Adam Gonzalez set Jo Leigh Ares' bond at $1.2 million at her arraignment last week. Another judge lowered the bond by $1 million. Gonzalez says nobody told him the bond would be lowered.
