McALLEN - For the third consecutive weekend, the Valley football team with the longest active winning streak in the regular season has lost.  In Zero Week, Harlingen was stopped at 31 games.  McAllen Memorial was next in line with 13 straight wins before losing in week one to Economedes.  That left San Benito on top with a modest five-game winning streak that was snapped in the 31-5A opener against the Mustangs 13-12 on Thursday night.  The Greyhounds' loss opens the door for a new number one 5A team in next week's Dave's Dozen.  Second-ranked Donna improved to 3-and-0 with a 31-7 win at Edinburg in 30-5A play.  Also in the upper Valley 5A district, La Joya recorded a 34-12 decision over Vela.  PSJA North rallied to stop Weslaco East 35-28 in overtime.  And in Brownsville, the first game of the new 32-5A season found Harlingen South a 56-0 shutout winner against Pace.  21 more games are on the schedule Friday as 5A teams complete the first week of district play.  CHANNEL 5's Game of the Week will match unbeatens Economedes and Edinburg North at Cats Stadium.
