FORT HOOD - Flags have been ordered to fly at half-staff after the mass shooting at Fort Hood.

Thirteen people were killed. Thirty-one were wounded. The alleged gunman, an Army psychiatrist, remains hospitalized and on a ventilator.

Military officials on the base say they are still piecing together what may have pushed Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan to turn on the very soldiers he was trained to help.

Federal authorities have seized his computer and are looking for clues that may have led to the military massacre.

They searched Hasan's apartment in Killeen early this morning. There's no word on exactly what other evidence they may have collected.

A spokeswoman for Hasan's family says relatives in northern Virginia are reaching out to law enforcement to offer insight.

She says the actions of their cousin are "despicable and deplorable."

But she adds his actions don't reflect how they were raised She says they would like to offer their condolences to the families of those killed.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS has been checking with local officials. So far, we have not heard of any Valley soldiers in Fort Hood who may have been hurt.

Fort Hood officials have set up a family hotline for information on a loved one's status. You can call (254) 288-7570 or (866) 836-2751 for information.
