MERCEDES - Hidalgo County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating after a stolen car was found on fire.
Late Sunday night, deputies found a vehicle engulfed in flames on Mile 13 and FM 1015 in Mercedes.
Authorities traced the car back to a home on Mile 12 North and Mile 2 West, which is located less than a mile away from where the car was found on fire. Deputies say the owners were not aware their car had been stolen. The car was completely destroyed.
Deputies are working to see who stole the car and why it was set on fire.
