RIO HONDO - A 13-year-old who accidentally shot and killed his cousin is facing a charge of manslaughter. He was charged today at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center in San Benito.

Today is also the day the victim, 18-year-old Ricardo Ramos Jr., was buried.

The shooting happened Sunday afternoon outside the victim's home in Rio Hondo. Investigators say the teen allegedly pointed the weapon at Ramos and pulled the trigger. Ramos was shot in the head. The 13-year-old, who is not from the Rio Hondo area, told investigators he didn't know the rifle was loaded.

Ramos was taken to the hospital, where he died a few hours later. We're told the cousins were close and the 13-year-old was devastated by Ramos' death.
