19-Year-Old Arraigned for Bringing Weapons to Weslaco School
WESLACO – A student is charged after being caught with weapons on school grounds in Weslaco.
Weslaco police took 19-year-old Samuel Solanzo into custody Monday after it was discovered he had brought two firearms onto Weslaco East High School.
Solanzo is facing charges for “places where weapons are prohibited,” a third degree felony.
According to a criminal complaint, authorities discovered a shotgun and an AR-15 inside Solanzo's vehicle that was located on the student parking lot.
The weapons were not loaded upon their discovery.
Police say the 19-year-old stated he did not know it was illegal to have weapons on school grounds.
No injuries were reported.
