DAISETTA, Texas (AP) Neighbors in a Southeast Texas community where a sinkhole opened nearly five years ago still keep an eye on the site that's become a tourist attraction.

The Beaumont Enterprise (http://bit.ly/XZwZmC ) reported Friday that the water-filled sinkhole along FM 770 in Daisetta (day-ZET'-uh) looks like any other pond.

Liberty County emergency management director Tom Branch says the sinkhole seems stable but nearby residents continue to monitor the site.

State officials closed part of FM770 for several months after the sinkhole emerged in May 2008. The hole grew to be about 600 feet by 525 feet with a depth of up to 150 feet.

Nobody was hurt.

Daisetta's Mayhaw Festival a salute to the area's native fruit opens May 2 and the parade starts in front of the sinkhole.
