BROWNSVILLE - The 5-year-old victim of an explosion in Brownsville is listed in critical but stable condition at a burn center in Galveston.

Family members said she suffered third-degree burns to her hands and second-degree burns to her face. As of Sunday morning, she was conscious and breathing on her own.

Her parents, who were taken to a Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio, are in stable condition.

All three were injured in an explosion inside their home Friday morning. The house is located on the 3000 block of Resaca Vista Drive.

Police said a suspicious package was left at the house overnight and someone took it into the home. According to investigators, there were several explosive devices inside the package, but only one went off.

Investigators are still trying to figure out who made the bombs, who dropped off the package and why the house was targeted.

Police said family members refused to cooperate with the investigation.
