SAN BENITO - Police said the six suspects in a 19-year-old's murder were taking the law into their own hands.
Investigators in San Benito said the group believed Angel Perez was helping two criminals break into cars in the neighborhood. Perez was allegedly chased down. Officers said when Perez fought his assailants, they decided to stab him.
Perez was found about a block from his home with 14 stab wounds. Officers said the suspects were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
The suspects were identified as J.J. Leal, Ruby Sanchez, Robert John Anthony Martinez, Miguel Angel Perez, Jose Ramos and Esteban Rodriguez.
A judge set each of the suspects' bonds at $500,000.
