MISSION - Authorities have recovered 975 pounds of marijuana after a chase.
It started on a levee at Anzalduas Park around 9 a.m. Mission police say they got a tip about a silver Silverado loaded with bundles of drugs.
The chase started after the driver refused to stop for police. Border Patrol agents assisted in the pursuit. A short time later, the smugglers bailed from the vehicle and took off on foot towards the river. They left behind the bundles of marijuana.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS was there as authorities and a helicopter searched the brush for any other smugglers. None were found and the search was called off.
