HIDALGO COUNTY - A Border Patrol agent saved two men who were struggling to stay afloat in the Rio Grande.
The incident happened Saturday when three people suspected of being in the United States illegally jumped into the river. Two men began to struggle and were unable to continue swimming.
The agent jump in and brought both men back onto the United States. The third person made it to Mexico.
One of the rescued men is from Mexico. The other is from Honduras.
The agent is from the El Centro, Calif., sector. He was transferred as part of the increase in agents to address the surge of illegal immigrants.
