EDINBURG - The man charged with kidnapping a UTPA student is heading to trial. A federal judge announced Miguel Angel Navarro will be in court next Tuesday.
Navarro is the alleged mastermind of the abduction of a UTPA student in September 2012. He's accused of helping take Ana Elizondo from a campus parking lot. She was held for ransom for more than a day before one of the kidnappers let her go.
A CHANNEL 5 NEWS investigation last year highlighted Navarro's criminal history. He pleaded guilty to being part of a similar type of extortion scheme back in 2004.
