CAMERON COUNTY - Arson is not being ruled out in a fire in Cameron County.

Cameron County fire investigators were back at the recent fire site near Rio Hondo. The landowner walked the investigator around the charred land with piles of cans lying on the ground.

Investigators say workers were using torches moments before the fire. The cause is still under investigation. All of the debris is considered a hazard. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will also investigate this area. They received several complaints leading up to the fire.

It took firefighters about 28 hours to extinguish the blaze. There are stacks of paint cans scattered across the yard. Brush grew up around it, which is a fire hazard.

Back in 2009, TCEQ investigators found nearly 6,000 paint cans and more than 200 containers of deck cleaning solution as well as hundreds of other containers for chemicals like detergents, cleaning equipment and tools.

They're investigating again and hope to wrap things up in about three weeks.
