Australian PM announces Sept. 14 elections

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced that elections will be held Sept. 14 breaking a convention in which the country's government usually gives little more than a month's notice of an election.
Gillard made the surprise announcement on Wednesday during a speech to the National Press Gallery.
