LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) Louisiana State Police say a Carencro man has been booked with driving while intoxicated following a traffic accident that killed a news anchor for a Texas television station.

Forty-eight-year-old William Leger (LAY' zhay), of Beaumont died early Saturday after the 2012 Jeep he was driving ran off Louisiana Highway 93 in Lafayette Parish. State police say Leger overcorrected, causing the Jeep to roll over and come to rest in the northbound lane, where it was struck by another car.

Troopers were trying to determine whether Leger was fatally injured before or after the Jeep was struck. Meanwhile, they have arrested the driver of the second vehicle, 52-year-old Clint Melancon (meh LAHN sawn), after tests of his blood-alcohol level.

Leger, a native of Kinder, was an anchor at KFDM in Beaumont.
