STARR COUNTY - A federal employee spotted a black bear Monday south of Falcon Dam.
The employee sighted the bear at approximately 10 a.m. Monday. He snapped a photo and sent it to the Starr County Sheriff's Office.
Wildlife experts said black bears are not native to South Texas. They believe the animal swam across the Rio Grande.
Officials said anyone who spots a bear should not approach it, instead call authorities.
